He was the last of the Berlin cats to be officially registered with the American Kennel Club, because the other cats simply refused to register themselves. Flikinger lived out of his own cat house in New York City, and would come and visit his owner in his office in Manhattan. When his owner’s employer was away on vacation, Flikinger would sleep on the owner’s desk. Then, whenever the boss came back, he’d feed Flikinger.Flikinger was so popular that when the Sixties music band The Beatles came to visit the U.S. city, they asked the Secret Service to keep him with them. The cat even made a television show, “Fliks.” And then there were “The Nutcracker,” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” and “The Ring” and “Egg-a-Lotion.” In fact, none of these would have happened without the loyal support of Muffy, the last of the Berlin cats.
